Terms & Conditions

  1. These are the terms and conditions of the Reward your MedSoc (‘Promotion’) that apply to any person or group i.e. Medical Society (“Med Soc”) seeking to participate in the Promotion. Information on how to be eligible in this Promotion forms part of these terms and conditions of eligibility.  Participation into this Promotion is deemed to be acceptance of these terms and conditions.
  2. The promoter is Medical Insurance Australia Pty Ltd (ABN 99 092 709 629) of Level 14, 70 Franklin Street, Adelaide SA 5000, ph 1800 777 156 ('MIGA').
  3. The Promotion commences at 12:01am (AEDT) on Monday, 6 January 2025 and ends at 11:59pm (AEDT) on Tuesday, 31 May 2025 ('Promotion Period').
  4. Participation is open to first year medical students who have not been insured with MIGA prior to the Promotion Period and who have met the conditions of clause 6 ('Eligible Entrants'). Participation is not open to MIGA employees, their immediate families or affiliated other parties.
  5. Participation is open to the official MedSoc for each of the 22 Australian Universities offering Medical Science studies in 2025. Those Universities are:
    • Adelaide University - SA
    • Australian National University – ACT
    • Bond University – QLD
    • Curtin University – WA
    • Deakin University – VIC
    • Flinders University - SA
    • Griffith University - QLD
    • James Cook University - QLD
    • Macquarie University - NSW
    • University of Melbourne - VIC
    • Monash University – VIC
    • University of New England - NSW
    • University of New South Wales - NSW
    • University of Newcastle - NSW
    • The University of Notre Dame - WA
    • The University of Notre Dame - NSW
    • The University of Queensland QLD
    • The University of Sydney - NSW
    • University of Tasmania – TAS
    • University of Western Sydney – NSW
    • University of Western Australia – WA
    • University of Wollongong - NSW
  6. If 75% of medical society students meet the following criteria:
    • Not already be a member of MIGA
    • Be enrolled as a medical student undertaking their first year University degree in medical studies at an Australian University
    • Have correctly and fully completed and submitted to MIGA an Insurance and Membership Application form via the internet or via a form from our Business Development Advisory staff within the Promotion Period.
    • Have signed up from the first-year cohort of the MedSoc’s corresponding University. (That cohort number is taken from Deans List as of June 13, 2024.)
  7. The $500 region payments will be made within 21 days of the medical society achieving 75% sign ups of the eligible cohort.
  8. There is an additional $1000 that will be paid per region, given to the MedSoc with the highest percentage of sign-ups (per region) based on the Deans List data. If two or more MedSocs have the same percentage of sign-ups within the same region then the $1000 is divided by that number of MedSoc’s. i.e. two equal highest percentage sign-up MedSocs would receive $500 each (2/$1000=$500)
  9. There are four ‘Regions’. They are split into: NSW/ ACT, VIC, QLD, SA/WA/TAS
  10. The total maximum payment pools available to each state or territory are (calculated as the number of MedSoc’s multiplied by $500 plus the $1000 region prize):
    • NSW – $5000
    • ACT - $1500
    • QLD - $3000
    • VIC - $2500
    • SA - $2000
    • WA - $2500
    • TAS - $1500
  11. The $1000 region payments will be made within 21 days of the Promotion Period finishing,
  12. MIGA is not responsible for any late, lost, incorrectly submitted, ineligible, incomplete or misdirected entry whether due to error or otherwise.
  13. If there is a dispute concerning the conduct of the Promotion, the decision of MIGA will be final and no correspondence will be entered into. 
  14. MIGA and its related bodies corporate and its respective officers and employees will not be liable for any loss, damage or personal injury whatsoever (including but not limited to direct, indirect or consequential loss) which is suffered or sustained in connection with this Promotion, the promotion of the Promotion or the use or misuse of any prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
  15. Participation details remain the property of MIGA. Eligible Entrants consent to MIGA using the contact details provided in connection with their free MIGA student membership and insurance for the purposes of facilitating the conduct of the Promotion.  For further information please see the MIGA Privacy Policy at www.miga.com.au.
